Honeymoon

For our honeymoon, Jon and I drove out to California to spend a week in a cabin next to a lake in the city of Big Bear Lake, CA.  We were way excited to spend the week together and neither of us had ever been to California before.  We broke up our drive to CA by stopping for a night in St. George, UT.  We both ended up really like St. George and the Days Inn where we stayed.  The hotel set up was nice, the rooms were nice, and there was a bunch of free stuff by the front desks!  Turns out both Jon and I love free stuff.  We sorta made out of there like bandits with a couple of bags of free gum, razors, snacks, chocolate bars, toothpaste, etc.  It said to take it so we did!  It was pretty awesome.

Days Inn St. George.  It's set up kinda like a rectangle so the rooms are all around the outside and in the middle is the pool, hot-tub, and a bunch of palm trees.

Before we left the next morning we stopped by the St. George temple.  It is so beautiful!  The grounds are amazing and the temple is so amazing and historic.  It completely stands out and practically shines throughout St. George when you compare it's beautiful white stone to the red rock and sand all around.
St. George Temple, it was really bright outside!

I love this temple!

The drive to CA was absolutely awful.  We were stuck in terrible traffic in the middle of a hot, desert-y NOWHERE forever!  We were not impressed.  It was seriously a few hours where we were at a dead stop between Las Vegas and CA.  If our car had ran out of gas we probably would have died because there is no humanity anywhere around!  Except for all the other billions of cars stuck there, of course.  When we got to the cabin, we found that it was also not what we were expecting.  When the description said, "cabin on the lake" what it really meant was, "little dingy house in the middle of a neighborhood about two miles from the lake."  It was small and old and had a slight ant problem.  Since neither of us liked the idea of spending the night with bugs, we had to immediately drive into town and buy ant traps and spray.  That made things a little better.
Our nice little "cabin on the lake"

Not quite what we were expecting...

But we made the best of it!

Over the week, we actually came to like and enjoy the cabin.  It had a nice hot tub, there were pretty woods around, and it was cute and quaint in it's own way.  We spent a couple of days out on the lake.  It was very pretty, and also very cold.  Understandable since Big Bear Lake is in the mountains.  One of the days we spent there was incredibly windy, it was seriously insane!  It actually made the experience pretty fun and memorable though.  The other day we spent there was beautiful.  The water was freezing but we did end up getting in.  We ended up braving out a few minute swim even.  The town was nice and quaint and a fun place to walk and look around and we spent some time there going to movies, eating ice cream, buying super expensive fudge, and other fun things.

Hangin' out at the beach.

Trying to dock-surf in the wind.

Hanging on to the dock for dear life in the wind, hence my distressed face!

When the wind got more scary we had to hit the deck...literally.

On Wednesday of the week, we woke up early and drove to Las Angelas to go to The Price is Right.  It ended up being QUITE the long process of waiting in lines and doing all sorts of prep stuff.  We showed up at 9:30am and didn't get in until 4:30 and then show didn't get out until 6pm.  However, despite a long day of waiting, the show was pretty fun and cool to be at.  We had fun dancing to the music and yelling out numbers.  Unfortunately, we weren't cool enough to get called down though.  Sad.  We always thought that they called people down randomly, but the actually do group interviews before the show and ask you a few questions and stuff so they can decide who will be the most interesting people to call down.  If you ask me, we were WAY more interesting than the rest of those people :)

After the show we went to Santa Monica and out to the Ocean beach.  It was incredibly beautiful!  I loved it!  I wished we could have stayed longer but we were sorta parked illegally and didn't want to get towed, so we actually only stayed like 1/2 hour.
Jon's happy face!  We liked the ocean!

Fun in the waves.

We loved the beach and the ocean!  So pretty!

We were going to drive back to American Fork on Friday but decided that we really liked St. George and wanted to spend one more night there.  We stayed at the same days in and had fun swimming in the hotel pool and going to see the new "Star Trek" movie, which we both loved!

Despite some things turning out differently than we had hoped and expected, it turned out to be a great week and a fun vacation!  We made it home Saturday with a few hours to relax and get ready for our next reception.
