My Girly Baby Shower!

Saturday night, Feb. 16, 2013, some of my friends threw me a baby shower for my soon to be here little girl!  They did a great job with it!

The refreshments were delicious and they had cute decorations and a very useful game!  They had all the guests write down a baby girl name for every letter of the alphabet to give me and Jon some ideas.  There were definitely some interesting names that came out of it but a few good ones too!!  Who knows, maybe I'll give someone a candybar or something if we end up choosing a name off of their list!  There was a great turn-out and we had fun just hanging out and chatting with the ladies.  I also got some super cute girly gifts!  Girl stuff is so fun!  I love Colton, wouldn't trade him for anything, but girl stuff is SO much more fun than boy stuff :)
My beautiful friends who threw the shower! Sarah, Alissa, Amy.

AND...their real personalities :)  Haha

This little girl is due to arrive March 4, 2013 (Just 11 more days!!).  I have her room all decorated, we're pre-registered at the hospital, and I took a tour of the mother-baby and delivery rooms on Tuesday.  So now we just gotta wait for her to come and try to mentally prepare ourselves for another baby!  We're both nervous to make the transition to two kids, and I'm ESPECIALLY not looking forward to the lack of sleep, but we're super excited to meet our little girl and finally hold her and see what she looks like!  Any guesses??  Do I have any chance of passing some genes on or are all of our kiddos gonna be red-heads? :)

Best Birthday Present EVER!

This year on February 3rd, I turned 25 years old!!  It's so crazy that I am now a quarter of a century old (even though my mom tried to convince me I was only turning 24).  I love birthdays and we always try to do some fun things to celebrate, but this year was better than ever, and it had nothing to do with birthday celebrations!  It just so happened that my birthday weekend was also the weekend we closed on and moved into our first home!  It was a crazy, busy weekend and I hardly even had time to stop and think about my birthday, but waking up on my birthday morning in my new home was the best thing I could have asked for!

Our first home!!

Don't mind my huge belly!  (38 weeks pregnant!)
Colton playing in our backyard.  He loves all the space to run around!

We closed on our house Thursday, Jan. 31, and spent Thursday and Friday moving small loads over and painting the master bedroom.  Turns out painting is a HUGE pain in the rear and takes forever so thank heavens the previous owners had good taste and we only had to re-paint one room.  Some of my friends came and helped me paint and clean in the new house also- it was so nice to have help!  Friday night Jon's parents and his brothers Mike and Mark drove down from MN to help us move.  They were amazing help!!  Mike, Mark, and Jon finished all of our painting Friday night and moved over a load of furniture.  Saturday morning they helped us box all of our stuff up at our town-home, get everything moved into our new house, and clean up the town-home for the new renter.  It was amazing to have them there to help!  We also had some help moving from our ward Saturday morning!  We're so grateful to have such great friends and family!

The family left Sunday morning and Jon surprised me with a sewing machine for my birthday!  Sunday night was the Superbowl and we had a few friends come by to watch the super-bowl and eat birthday brownies with us.  That's right, I decided I didn't like cake that much so we had some delicious double chocolate reeses peanut butter cool-whip brownies.  They were fantastic, if I do say so myself!
Happy 25!!

Blowing out the candles with Colton on my back.

Some of my wonderful friends who came by to celebrate the day.

This week, we finally upgraded our old beat down mini-van, to a 2008 Toyota Sienna.  It's got 95k miles on in but it's still way nice!  Jon LOVES the color!  We needed a more reliable car with more space and comfort for the new baby arriving.  The new van has all-wheel drive and lots of space and runs awesome!  We also got a great deal on it, which was good considering all our new expenses piling up!  It's definitely the nicest car I've ever driven!  I love it and feel so spoiled!

My new fancy mini-van! (Again- don't mind my hugeness! 38 weeks)

Growing up fast! (Colton's be-lated updates)

It's been way too long since I've updated the blog on Colton.  He is growing up so fast and changing all the time.  I decided I needed to get on the ball before he's 18 and going on a mission and I forgot what he was like as a toddler!  Haha.  Today Colton is 19 months old!  It's crazy how much he has grown and learned since he was born.  Last month was his 18 month check up.  Here are his stats!

18 Month Stats:

Head Circumference: 48.2cm   (61st percentile)
Height: 32 1/2 inches (54th percentile)
Weight: 24 lbs 13 oz (35th percentile)

Colton hates going to the doctor.  He cries and clings to me the whole time.  Even when the appointment is for me and he just has to sit in his stroller and eat snacks, he just cries and cries.  It's pretty sad.  Something about nurses or scrubs or something but make him think he's gonna get shots or something cause he is not a happy camper at the doctor.

Colton is a super picky eater and I always worry that he isn't eating enough.  He likes fruits, pb sandwiches, SOMETIMES meat and cheese sandwiches, muffins, cereal, yogurt, crackers, and macaroni and cheese.  That's pretty much it.  He hates veggies, eggs, beans, rice, meats, and pretty much every meal I make.  It's very frustrating!  He's been getting a little better lately.  Last night he ate a few bites of spaghetti all on his own!  I was so proud!

He is becoming such a little chatter lately.  He loves when daddy calls and he can just chat nonsense to him on the phone.  Every time we ask him if he wants a snack or to watch show (things he likes), he'll say, "Yeah, alright."  Whenever Jon or I leave the room he'll start yelling, "Mama (or dada) where are you?"  This gets pretty embarrassing when one of us has to leave to go to the bathroom or something during sacrament meeting!  He also has started disciplining himself lately.  If he does something he's not supposed to or something on accident he'll say, "Uh oh.  No, No!"  Basically, he's pretty adorable :)  He still loves balls and throwing anything he can around.  He loves cars, trains, climbing on anything and everything, and "helping" mommy sweep and mop the floor.  We love our little Colton and can't believe he's growing up so fast!

Gettin' Quilty!

So, when I was pregnant with Colton, I made the lofty goal that I was gonna make a baby blanket for each of my kids.  It wasn't so bad for Colton's.  I was living in Utah and had my mom to help me.  When it came time to make a blanket for this next one I was a little nervous to do it on my own and even thought about just breaking the goal.  I decided that I would do it though and I'm glad it did!  I made some mistakes and it definitely wasn't perfect but I think it turned out pretty cute!  I'm pretty proud of the first quilt/baby blanket I made entirely by myself!

Total devestation!  I was ironing the seams down and the iron burned a hole in the fabric!

I was able to fashion a little patch to go over the hole.  Doesn't look perfect, but oh well.

Tying the quilt.

All finished!  I think it turned out pretty cute!
