Colton's 5th Birthday!

How do I have a 5 year old??  Colton is so much ridiculous fun!  He is a challenging child, who keeps teaching me extreme patience, but he is so full of energy and excitement that it's hard not to love him!  At 5 years old, Colton is still a bit of a stick (pretty tall and skinny) but he has a ton of energy!  He loves learning new things!  He is all about doing experiments and learning interesting facts about science or creatures or really anything.  He loves telling jokes, although most of them are not funny at all.  He still doesn't quite grasp what humor is :)  To him, replacing any word in a sentence with the words "poop, banana, stinky, or pants" is just about the most hilarious thing ever.  Boys.  He still loves dinosaurs most of all and knows quite a few facts about them!  Sometimes Jon and I will be surprised at him when he will spout some random thing about a dinosaur we've never heard of and we'll find out later that it was all accurate!  He also loves his siblings and is always trying to "help" with baby Zach.  Really he can't just leave him alone, but it's sweet how much he loves him.

For his birthday party we invited a few friends over for a Dino Discovery Party!  I had called my mom and asked for some of her preschool experiments and got some good ideas!  First, we did a soda and vinegar volcano eruption and then I let each of the kids make their own volcanos to take home.  Next we went out to the sandbox where I had buried several little dinosaur eggs with baby dinosaurs in them and the kids got to dig them out.  The last experiment was digging dinosaur skeletons out of some homemade soda rocks I had made.  It was all a lot of fun and the kids, Colton especially, really seemed to enjoy them!  Last we had birthday cake and snacks and opened presents.  It was a lot of fun (and a lot of work!!) and I'm glad Colton had a good time!

ROAR!!

Presents from Mom and Dad, and grandmas :)  He had been asking for this Dinosaur lamp for a long time and was excited to finally get it!
