COVID-19: Social Isolation Week 2

Another week of isolation.  It feels really weird, but mostly we just try not to think about it too much because that's when we start getting anxious.  The kids are still holding up pretty well and haven't complained too much about not getting to go places or see their friends.  I'm grateful for that!  Jon and I have both had our moments of feeling a little overwhelmed but we continue to have faith that the Lord has a plan and that He loves us and that this won't last forever.  Today we participated in a world-wide fast, requested by President Russel M. Nelson, for the world's social, physical, and economic relief from Coronavirus.  It was our 3rd week of "home church" today and it went pretty well.  We seem to be getting in a rhythm and the kids enjoy participating and taking turns with prayers, talks, and scriptures.

Some highlights from this week:

We started our first week of a new "learning" schedule.  I'm not going to call it homeschool because I'm not shooting for it to replace school.  We created a schedule that would incorporate some academic time to keep the kids brains active, some active time, some reading and music time, and some play time.  The schedule is really just to help us all stay productive and not go crazy!  It went pretty well for week 1!

We had some fun dress-up time together in the basement.

Wednesday was Jon's 35th birthday so we had fun celebrating him all day!  I wish we could have done more but we did the best we could under the circumstances!  We all made cards for Jon, wrote letters, made a video, got take out Arby's for dinner, and had chocolate pie for dessert! We are all so happy we have a great husband/daddy in the house!

On Thursday we took a break from our normal schedule and I let each of the kids pick any activity they wanted that we could do together and then we did all of them.  Zach picked aquabeads, Katie picked playing Sleeping Queens together, and Colton picked painting.  Madi was a little stinker for all of it :)  It was a fun day and a good way to mix things up for a bit!

It was rainy over the weekend but the kids and I still managed to get out for some bike rides.  I actually love bike rides in the rain!  It was very refreshing.  I did some fun rides around the block with the kids and then also some faster rides by myself.  It has been forever since I rode like that on a bike!   It was fun!

Saturday night we had another facetime game night with some family members and that was lots of fun.  We were up chatting until way too late!
